Repatriation following a terrorist attack

Luxembourg, 12 September 2017.

Yesterday, Luxembourg Air Rescue (LAR) repatriated a victim of the Barcelona attack. The Belgian citizen was struck by the van and suffered severe injuries. Repatriation to her country of residence was only possible within the framework of medical treatment requiring intensive care. She was therefore transported by Luxembourg Air Rescue for further treatment to a Belgian hospital aboard a fully equipped air ambulance aircraft.

Already on 24 August, LAR had transported a young French couple with polytraumatic injuries from the attack back to their country of residence.

This is not the first time Luxembourg Air Rescue has been deployed in response to terrorist attacks. In June 2015, the Luxembourg-based air rescue organization repatriated several tourists after an attack in Tunisia.
