Luxembourg Air Rescue continues to grow
The Luxembourg population continues to support life-saving assistance from the air.
Without members there would be no LAR. There is no simpler way to express what the support of LAR members means for Luxembourg’s air rescue service.
Nearly 5,000 Luxembourgers decided to join Luxembourg Air Rescue A.s.b.l. during the first ten months of this year.
As its 185,000th member, LAR welcomed the Wagner-Da Silva family from Useldange to its premises at the airport.
The four family members were welcomed at Findel by LAR President René Closter.
René Closter, President of LAR:
“The existence of LAR is only possible thanks to the support of our members, who are the very reason for LAR’s existence.
Without the trust of the population, the strong spirit of solidarity and the contributions of our members, life-saving assistance from the air could not be ensured.
That is why we are pleased to continue welcoming new members, as this allows us to continuously improve the quality of our services.”
We do what we can and we can do what we do.
For more than 24 years, LAR has been active in the field of air rescue and the repatriation of members who have fallen ill or been injured abroad and has specialized in its mission of saving people in distress and preserving their health.
It currently operates five rescue helicopters and four dedicated air ambulance aircraft.
So far, more than 22,000 missions have been flown.
Since the beginning of this year, more than 1,600 helicopter rescue missions have already been carried out and more than 800 air ambulance flights have been performed worldwide in over 90 countries.
Around the clock, 365 days a year, a team of 140 specialists – including pilots, doctors, nurses, technicians and member support staff – ensures fast and smooth assistance from the air.
LAR is the only organization in the world operating both rescue helicopters and air ambulance jets that has been awarded the ISO 9001:2008 quality certification for its entire operation.
Just as at its founding in 1988, LAR remains committed today and in the future to acting in accordance with its mission: saving the lives of people in distress and preserving their health.
LAR fulfills this mission using rescue helicopters and air ambulance jets in Luxembourg, in the Greater Region and worldwide, 365 days a year, while maintaining the highest safety and quality standards.
