LAR rescue helicopter should remain in Ettelbruck

Following a joint meeting between representatives of the Centre Hospitalier du Nord (CHdN) and Luxembourg Air Rescue (LAR), the two long-standing partners reaffirmed their wish to continue their proven cooperation.

Then as now, there has been very good cooperation between the two partners and, according to both organizations, this partnership should be maintained in order to ensure high-quality emergency care for citizens in the north of Luxembourg.

New international requirements regarding the landing and take-off conditions for rescue helicopters make it necessary to install a landing platform on the roof of the hospital in Ettelbruck.

The structural conditions required for this are in place, as confirmed by an assessment carried out by an engineering firm.

Until the final entry into force of the new EU requirements, the new landing platform could also be installed with direct access to the hospital’s patient elevators.

Furthermore, the permanent stationing of a rescue helicopter next to the Centre Hospitalier du Nord (CHdN) continues to make complete sense, as it allows significantly shorter response times for emergencies in the north of the country.

The characteristics of a rescue helicopter are particularly advantageous in rural areas.

The necessary discussions with the Minister of Health and the Minister of the Interior are expected to begin shortly.
