Belgian and local organisations benefit from donations (Source: Tageblatt)
LENTZWEILER – The management and the joint works council of the company Tarkett invited guests to a special event.
After the company’s internal food vending machines were no longer operated internally, a surplus accumulated over the years remained in the fund.
Since this money was originally intended to benefit employees but a fair distribution proved difficult, the joint works council decided, on the initiative of its secretary Jean-Pol Besseling, to distribute the funds to charitable organisations.
Taking into account the large number of Belgian cross-border workers employed at the company, two Belgian and two Luxembourg organisations were selected as beneficiaries of the donations.
These were Luxembourg Air Rescue, the “Centre médical héliporté” from Bra-sur-Lienne, the “Éislecker Heem” from the municipality of Wincrange and the organisation for people with disabilities “Animalaine” from Bastogne.
It is striking that the organisations on both sides of the border have very similar missions and development histories.
Just like LAR, the provision of the rescue helicopter in Bra also originated from a private initiative.
The same applies to the Éislecker Heem and Animalaine.
Both organisations support people with intellectual disabilities with the aim of helping them find their place in society.
At the beginning of the ceremony, the Managing Director of Tarkett Luxembourg, Jean-Sébastien Moinier, presented the company.
The third-largest employer in northern Luxembourg is the continuation of the company Eurofloor, which was founded in Wiltz in 1961.
The company produces 62 million square metres of flooring each year.
The global group also operates its research laboratory in Wiltz.
The cheques of €5,000 each were presented by Christophe Damico, director of the Lentzweiler plant, together with HR director Delphine Buron and representatives of the workforce.
