Training objective

The EPALS course (European Paediatric Advanced Life Support) aims to train healthcare professionals in the management of vital pediatric emergencies, including infants and newborns, in a hospital or pre-hospital setting.

Target audience & prerequisites

All health professionals who may be involved in the resuscitation of a child, infant or newborn. All the links you need will be sent to you when you register.

E-learning module and mandatory final test

before the start of the training

Duration

2 days, for a minimum total of 15:40 (excluding breaks). It includes a theoretical online part (e-learning on the CoSy platform) and a practical one in person.

Educational content

Skills developed include:

Recognition of the critically ill child
Assessment and treatment of airways, breathing and circulation
Ventilation to the balloon mask, intraosseous perfusion
Management of shock, rhythm disorders, defibrillation
Neonatal and pediatric resuscitation
Simulated clinical scenarios (cardiac arrest, severe trauma, special situations)
Post-resuscitation care and ethical aspects
Teamwork and soft skills

Assessment & Certification

Participants are evaluated on an ongoing basis during the training. A final test is organized, comprising:

Continuous evaluation during the training
Written test (MCQ)
Practical assessment
Issuance of an official EPALS certificate – ERC
Valid for 3 years
