European Air Ambulance (EAA) of Luxembourg and Skyservice Air Ambulance of Canada, have announced a co-operation agreement that will see them providing wing-to-wing transfer of patients on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean. On 22 February 2011, during the International Travel Insurance Conference (ITIC)Americas held in Miami, US, Skyservice Air Ambulance (Skyservice AA) and European Air Ambulance (EAA) organised a special reception to officially announce their collaboration.  Laurent Saeul, managing director of EAA and Sam Cimone, vice-president Skyservice AA signed the agreement, officially launching their partnership. Critical patient transfers will take place in secure environments at the relevant service?s home airfield - in Canada, at the Skyservice Air Ambulance bases in Montreal or Toronto, and in Europe at the EAA bases in Luxembourg or Baden/Karlsruhe Airport, Germany. Wing-to-wing transfers will take place at the end of crew duty times and include the handover of the patient to a fresh crew from the partner organisation, helping to accelerate the repatriation of patients. Either company can be contacted to undertake a mission, and they in turn will co-ordinate with partner service to ensure optimalrepatriation. Clients will be informed of progress throughout the mission, with the ability to track the patient?s location via online tracking tools. Crews from both services have undertaken air ambulance flights with wing-to-wing transfer over the past few months, allowing both partners to gain experience on how to best perform these joint missions while remaining focused on providing care for the patient.
